Hello,

Nobody should go broke or suffer financially because of the cost of testing for or treating COVID-19.

Last week, I voted for the CARES Act, a $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill that will ensure millions of Americans receive economic relief during these extraordinary times. While this legislation provides necessary, immediate assistance to workers, families, hospitals, and small businesses, our work to combat this public health and economic crisis is far from over.

Federal, state, and local officials are working to keep our communities safe, but it’s vital that we all do our part to slow the spread of this outbreak by following the recommendations of public health experts:

  • Stay at home as much as possible.
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds at a time.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Social distancing is the best method to slow the spread of COVID-19, which is why Governor Wolf has issued a stay-at-home order for counties across Pennsylvania.

However, there are many essential activities still permitted under the stay-at-home order, including those to maintain the health and safety of your family, life-sustaining business activities, volunteering, and more. For specific guidance, please consult your local government and emergency response officials.

By working together (from a distance!) and taking responsibility for our own behaviors, we can dramatically reduce the impact of this pandemic on our own lives and our communities.

As I do my part in the U.S. Senate to ensure Americans receive the support they need during this crisis, I want you to know that help is available now.

There are also important ways for you to help your community right now, if you're in a low-risk group:

The outbreak of COVID-19 is an unprecedented public health and economic crisis, and we all have a part to play in slowing the spread of this virus and helping our communities recover.

As I continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure Americans receive the care, resources, and support they need during and after this crisis, I'm counting on you to do your part at home.

Please take care of yourself, your family, and your community. We are all in this together.

Thank you,

Bob
