John xxxxxx,
Today, I launched our local election campaign. It’s not the election campaign I wanted to launch, but the Prime Minister has bottled a general election.
Now, it’s our job to come together and send Rishi Sunak a message he can’t ignore - Britain wants change and that change is Labour. Prime Minister, your time is up, and the date must be set.
If you already understand what’s at stake and are ready to help, please contribute today to help us start the local election campaign strong.
The Tories are failing everywhere you look. The sewage in our rivers, the ambulances that don’t come, the schools literally crumbling over our children’s heads. They’re so desperate, so broken by failure to address these problems, that they’ve reduced themselves to exploiting the politics of division, driving more chaos and decline.
And it’s our communities and families - ordinary people, who pay the price.
Well, we don’t have to take it anymore. We've got the power of the vote.
On Thursday 2 May, we must elect as many Labour councillors, mayors and police and crime commissioners as possible.
Yes, this will send a message to the government. But don’t forget, Labour in power delivers - these representatives are at the forefront of providing good public services and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities.
It’s so important that we’re able to run a good campaign without diminishing our general election fund. That’s because the Tories have a huge general election war chest and we need to be able to measure up to it when the time comes. And we’re making incredible progress in closing the fundraising gap.
That’s why I need to ask you today:
John xxxxxx, will you make a one off donation to our local election fund today? We have thousands of candidates who need you to help make this happen. They can’t do it alone. It doesn’t matter how much, but that you give what you can.
On Thursday 2 May, we must make sure that Labour candidates are given the opportunity to serve and deliver for their communities. And we must take the opportunity to say loud and clear to the Tories that the country wants change with Labour. Enough dithering, it’s time for a general election.
Together, we can get Britain’s future back.
Thank you,
Keir Starmer
Leader of the Labour Party
