We’re almost to my favorite holiday: Easter. I do not overstate when I say that celebrating the Resurrection is the highlight of my year. The music, the message ⦠the hope that carries me forward ⦠it’s the real thing.
You know who else should’ve loved Easter? Judas. As a disciple who walked, talked and ate with the Savior, he saw firsthand the power, glory and peace Jesus carried. He saw “fully God and fully man” in one package. He got the inside scoop on prophecies that have since been fulfilled.
But Judas missed something â something huge and eternally consequential. Forever making his faith transactional and conditional, Judas couldn’t quite accept the ministry and message of the Messiah. Instead of believing, Judas bargained, and instead of bowing down, Judas betrayed. It’s a sobering message for all of us. Are we trying to get Jesus and the gospel on our own terms, or are we putting all of our faith â every shaking ounce of it â in a Savior who promises everything in return? If you’re still skeptical, read George Halitzka’s
