Join in our activities each week as we celebrate 50 years of Earth Day

At Team Sierra, we’ve been working hard to build a community of people who are protecting the planet.
Today is the first day of Earth Month, and the 22nd marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Earth Day has become a tradition for us, but things are very different this year. So, we’re creating virtual activities (as we speak!) inspired by nature so you can join us while you’re home.
The First Activity:
Share a photo of nature with the hashtag #QuarantineLifeCalm.
Get creative! It can be a photo of a flower you see from your window. Or take a trip down memory lane and share a photo from a past camping trip or backyard BBQ.
Tag 5 friends and challenge them to share a nature photo. Help bring the outdoors into the homes of your family, friends, and people across the nation!
These small moments of relaxation can help right now -- and studies show looking at nature reduces stress! You’ll get an email each Saturday and Wednesday with updated virtual activities. You can create a Team Sierra page where you can add photos, videos, or journal how you're connecting with nature from home. Here’s an example.
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, we collaborated with Marine Layer to create a throwback T-shirt. You can fundraise or donatewhatever amount you’re comfortable with, and you’ll get this exclusive shirt

Here’s why we’re asking for your support: in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EPA plans to suspend regulations around releasing dangerous pollutants into the air and water (read more here). Staying safe during this pandemic is a top priority. We encourage measures to contain the pandemic, and we have been pushing Congress to provide financial relief. But suspending enforcement of vital environmental regulations puts us at even greater risk. We recognize the need to continue to keep our planet healthy as we work to do the same for ourselves and our communities.

Marine Layer 50th Anniversary Earth Day T-shirt
Earth Day has become an annual fundraiser for Sierra Club. Each year, we have a new Earth Day T-shirt that you get when you raise a certain amount.
As we’re all dealing with a global pandemic, we understand that fundraising may not be at the forefront. So, we made some adjustments You can fundraise or donate whatever amount you’re comfortable, and you'll get a T-shirt. Plus, we'll send you a form to nominate someone to receive a free shirt as a gift from you.
You can take part in our Earth Month activities regardless of making a donation or fundraising page. Sierra Club will continue with our work of protecting our natural environment and fighting for a just, clean energy future. You’ve played an integral part in supporting these efforts, and we cannot thank you enough.
