Hey team, it's Makenzie. Ilhan's finance director.
I'm reaching out because earlier this week, I made a seriously difficult decision during our team budget meeting, and as a supporter of this campaign, I felt that you deserved to know about it.
As we look forward to the months ahead of our primary this summer, it's become clear that in order to continue growing our progressive coalition and ensure we have the resources to take on the likes of AIPAC and the right-wing super PACs, we need to significantly scale up our investments in digital organizing and advertising.
It was a significant cost, and the money wasn't in our March budget. But I gave the green light anyway.
I knew it was a risk — there's no doubt about that. But right now, as we approach this weekend's official FEC fundraising deadline, the right-wing and their Republican mega-donors are watching our every step, and we need to do whatever it takes to succeed.
That's why I made a bet that if I asked, this movement would come through and help us fill the gap. And I'm really hoping you will — today. Not just for me, or for Ilhan, but for everyone who cares about continuing our progressive movement's fight for justice in Congress and beyond.
So please. Can you make your first contribution — of $3 or any amount you can — to stand with Ilhan and our campaign today? Every donation ahead of Sunday's FEC deadline will help fill our budget gap as we make critical investments in our campaign.
Like I said, this was a seriously difficult decision — one that I thought you deserved to hear about from me directly. Because of the way we fund this campaign, I spend a lot of time balancing our financial priorities and figuring out where to best spend our resources, and it's not a conclusion I came to lightly.
But one of the many things that separates Ilhan from our opponents in this race is that she knows our movement always has her back when it matters most.
Thanks for chipping in today if you can.
In solidarity,
Makenzie Richardson
Finance Director
