Did you know that today, March 28, has been declared the Global Day of Action to Destigmatize Abortions ([link removed]) ?

Ipas is proud to join with our partners in this global campaign to build a world where everyone is free to access their fundamental right to abortion with love, care and support. Why? Because around the world, abortion stigma works to shame and discredit those seeking or providing abortion—causing needless suffering every day for millions of people.

Research we conducted with partners shows that if we could get rid of the abortion stigma that plagues individuals, communities and institutions, we’d be much closer to ensuring abortion access for all.

1. See the many ways you can get involved: The March 28 campaign website offers a great collection of resources ([link removed]) on how we can all help fight abortion stigma.

2. Talk about abortion: Stigma thrives on silence. More people need to talk about why abortion access matters—and why abortion is normal, necessary, essential health care for millions of people. We have some useful posts for this on our Instagram, including this one on why exception-based abortion laws don’t work ([link removed]) .

3. Wear your values: Ipas’s online merchandise shop ([link removed]) offers shirts, tote bags and more with bold statements like “Abortion is health care.” And during March only, we have a special artist collaboration that features a colorful interpretation of “Reproductive freedom is a human right.”
