DC Journal ([link removed]) (3/28/24) reports: "Automobile dealers want the Biden administration to quit trying to force them to vroom vroom down electric avenue. These dealerships are now rolling the throttle on their opposition to the new regulations, saying they are being pushed by 'unelected Washington bureaucrats dictating what kind of vehicles Americans can buy.' The new EPA emissions rules, part of the administration’s climate change policy agenda, would drastically limit the availability of traditional gas-powered vehicles. While Biden political allies claim, 'It’s not a ban on gas cars,' the rules would mean gas-powered cars can make up no more than 30 percent of auto sales by 2032...'This regulation is another example of President Biden’s assault on the middle class,' said Thomas Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research and the American Energy Alliance. 'The American people should be free to
choose the types of cars and trucks that make the most sense for them. This administration wants to take away that choice by forcing Americans into specific vehicles preferred by government agents at the EPA. The Biden regulations will make cars more expensive and ultimately make fewer cars available for Americans.'”

** "Instead [of adopting a carbon tax], Governor Shapiro should chart a new course that maintains Pennsylvania’s prominent position as a clean energy-exporting state and encourages market forces to provide jobs and reliable, affordable energy across the commonwealth."

(3/27/24) reports: "The last coal producers in New England will shutter their doors permanently under an agreement reached with environmental groups and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Wednesday. Two plants in New Hampshire, Schiller and Merrimack, will voluntarily cease operations in 2025 and 2028, respectively, said Jim Andrews, president and CEO of Granite Shore Power. By closing the plants, Granite Shore Power — the company that operates them — resolved litigation brought by the Conservation Law Foundation and the Sierra Club, which alleged they violated the Clean Water Act. The region’s coal-free status comes as part of a larger pledge by the U.S. to phase out coal power plants through the Powering Past Coal Alliance. The U.S. joins 56 other nations in committing to no new coal plants and the closing of existing operations. The U.S. has not named a target date for completing the transition, but the Biden administration, through other works, has indicated a plan aimed at no
coal by 2035. New Hampshire will become the 16th coal-free state in the nation, according to a statement by the Sierra Club. Facilities like Merrimack have fallen short of emissions requirements in the past, exceeding one emissions limit by 70 percent in 2023, according to reporting from New Hampshire Public Radio. Previous failures to meet requirements did not inform the company’s decision, Andrews said. He has said that new 'renewable energy parks' of solar arrays and storage facilities will be developed."

Instead of producing oil in California, Governor Gavin likes to have it shipped in on tankers. That's progress for you.

(3/27/24) reports: "Canadian crude shipments to Los Angeles are surging, a possible preview of how an expanded pipeline that’s nearing startup may redraw flows along the Pacific Coast. Three tankers carrying a total of 1.74 million barrels have sailed from Vancouver to the biggest US West Coast city in March, the most in at least four years, according Vortexa tanker data. At least two of the shipments of heavy Cold Lake crude from the oil sands went to Marathon Petroleum Corp., which operates a refinery in the city. The US refiner declined to comment in an email. Marathon’s ramp-up of Canadian crude imports could be a sign of things to come once the Trans Mountain pipeline’s expansion — which will nearly triple the capacity of the line running from Alberta to the Pacific Coast to 890,000 barrels a day — starts operating in the second quarter. The US refiner is a contract shipper on the new pipeline. While the first two cargoes off the expanded system — also known as TMX — are expected to go
to China, some analysts argue that US West Coast refineries may become the preferred market due to the proximity and the relatively small Aframax tankers that are able to access Vancouver."

(3/27/24) reports: "An onslaught of hail in southeastern Texas that destroyed large portions of a massive solar farm is highlighting the perils of trading traditional power sources for vulnerable 'green' alternatives and sparking concern about the potential for chemical leaks from the broken panels. Aerial footage captured the significant damage suffered by the Fighting Jays Solar farm in Fort Bend County, Texas. The March 15 storm shattered hundreds of panels and prompted a nearby resident to question if the solar panels were leaking chemicals such as cadmium telluride, which is linked to serious health risks in humans. 'My concern is the hail damage that came through and busted these panels – we now have some highly toxic chemicals that could be potentially leaking into our water tables,' Needville resident Nick Kaminski told Fox affiliate KRIV-TV. 'I have a family — two children and a wife. My neighbors have kids and a lot of other residents in the area who are on well water are
concerned that the chemicals are now leaking into our water tables.' The Fort Bend County Environmental Health Department is investigating the incident and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has also been contacted regarding any potential chemical contamination, Needville Mayor Chad Nesvadba told Fox News Digital. Fort Bend County officials didn't respond to multiple requests for comment."
