The International Rescue Committee is providing emergency supplies, medical care to people who are sick, malnourished and injured, and other critical support.
CRISIS IN GAZA
Children are bearing the brunt of the horrific destruction in Gaza. More than 12,000 children are dead and thousands more are missing.
Ramadan should be a time when families can come together to observe the holy month and break bread together, but this has become near impossible given the shortage of food.
In addition, the medical system in Gaza has suffered almost total collapse. Medical care and medicines are almost as scarce as food. The IRC has focused on medical care from the beginning of our response in Gaza. Together with our partner Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) we've deployed teams of trauma doctors, surgeons, pediatricians, and water and sanitation experts to provide care. The IRC has also procured/released 46 metric tons of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
Getting aid to Gaza is challenging. But your support inspires us. The IRC is supporting partners and has delivered food to people in need. We are also providing critical services in emergency shelters including health services, cash assistance, mental health/psychological support and other support for children and caregivers.
The IRC also plans to scale its programming in Gaza as soon as a ceasefire is in place. We are dependent on appropriate funding and needs on the ground. IRC, with partners, would like to scale up health care, livelihood and protection services.
