For instance, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s guidance and regulations strongly encourage companies to conduct extensive animal tests to demonstrate that their drugs are safe for human use, when more effective non-animal tests exist that they can also use. And as a result, countless animals are suffering needlessly.

HSLF is fighting for lifesaving policies in state legislatures and in Congress that can protect innocent animals from cruelty and abuse. We’re putting pressure on the FDA to prioritize non-animal methods and strategies in their drug approval process and advocating tirelessly to pass the Humane Cosmetics Act to ban animal testing for new cosmetics manufactured and sold in the U.S.
