Learn More In the News NNEDV Domestic Violence Counts: 18th Annual Report On September 6, 2023, the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) conducted their Domestic Violence Counts Survey: a one-day, unduplicated count of adults and children seeking domestic violence services in the United States. Doorways participates in the count each year. This annual survey documents the number of people who sought services in a single 24-hour period, as well as the types of services requested, the number of service requests that went unmet due to a lack of resources, and the issues and barriers domestic violence programs face in providing services to victims. Read the Virginia Report Read the Full Report NLIHC The Gap Report: No state has an adequate supply of affordable rental housing for the lowest-income renters The U.S. has a shortage of 7.3 million rental homes affordable and available to renters with extremely low incomes – that is, incomes at or below either the federal poverty guideline or 30% of their area median income, whichever is greater. Only 34 affordable and available rental homes exist for every 100 extremely low-income renter households. In the DMV metro area, there are 195,725 extremely low-income renter households, but only 51,290 affordable and available rental homes.
