Friend,

Your inbox is probably filled this week with politicians asking for $5 or $10 contributions. That’s because the quarter is coming to an end, and campaigns like mine face a major deadline.

Our quarterly fundraising numbers inform our strategy for the months to come: how many local staff can we afford to hire, how many pamphlets should we print, and how much support can we provide to swing-district Democrats across the country?

Fundamentally, fundraising matters because it determines how many people we can reach with our message. We’ve accomplished a lot in the last few years. We lowered the employment rate to historic lows, enacted the first meaningful gun control in 30 years, and passed a once-in-a-generation investment in our infrastructure. I’m proud of that record, and I hope you are, too.

But while you and I know how much Democrats have delivered for the American people, many folks haven’t been following the news. Between now and November, we’ll need to spread the word about all that we’ve accomplished.

With the Koch family spending millions on Republican causes, it might feel as though $5 doesn’t make a dent. But Democrats’ strength lies in the number of contributors, not in the size of contributions. Your small-dollar donation will help us outnumber Republican mega-donors and win this November. Thanks, as always, for your support.
