Dear John
Welcome to your round-up of our latest climate and nature news this month.
The natural world is springing into life all around us as we head towards a summer of nature campaigning. And we’d like to take a quick temperature check to get your views about our current work and what you’d like us to do.
Do you have 3 minutes to complete a few questions? Let us know how you feel about some statements about nature and the environment. Here’s the first one to get you started:
Do you feel more or less concerned about the state of the planet than you did a year ago?

Cold homes seriously effecting health – our report at parliament
( [link removed] )
Friends of the Earth groups across England and Wales showed their support at the UK parliament launch of our report on the impacts of poorly insulated homes.
They brought their colourful community-stitched quilts to our event – which along with some startling new research – really got the attention of the MPs in attendance.
The report, by Prof Sir Michael Marmot of the Institute of Health Equity, highlights the hidden costs of Britain's cold homes. Almost 10 million homes across the UK – about a third of all homes – live in poorly insulated accommodation. These homes are seriously risking people's physical and mental health.
The findings were covered in The Guardian ( [link removed] ) and you can read the full report for yourself too.

Award-winning science fiction writer and podcast host, Emma Newman, imagines a world where our money isn't used to fund things like fossil fuels.
Episode 4 features conversations Emma has with a grassroots movement leader who's empowering women to take control of their finances. And a community farm in Wales raising funds to keep it in service of the local people it feeds.

International Women's Day: friendship in the climate space
Earlier this month we celebrated International Women's Day on 8 March.
We shone a spotlight on two amazing women from our local action group network – Chayley from Huddersfield Friends of the Earth and her friend Kiran, leader of Huddersfield Hindu Temple.
Their friendship has been instrumental in their work to fight climate and ecological breakdown. They explain that it's not just about driving action towards a cause they care about, but also finding joy in it too.

Our fight against the climate crisis in the media
Our work protecting people and planet regularly hits the news. So, in case you missed any, here's some of our latest stories.
Last month The Guardian covered our trip to the High Court ( [link removed] ) alongside ClientEarth and Good Law Project challenging the UK government’s climate action plan. And Lord Deben, Chair of the government’s Climate Change Committee (CCC), wrote about why he's supporting our case in this opinion piece ( [link removed] ) for politics.co.uk.
We also featured in a Reuters ( [link removed] ) news feed where the article's headline photo of our rally outside the courts was selected for The Guardian’s photos of the day ( [link removed] ).
We've now got a date later this year for our new climate adaptation court case, alongside co-claimants Kevin and Doug – who were featured in The Guardian ( [link removed] ) at the end of last year. The Guardian ( [link removed] ) also recently covered our case in its report on the CCC's damning review of the UK government's plan for dealing with the effects of extreme weather as a result of climate breakdown.
