The Global Day of Action to Destigmatize Abortions

We're proud to be part of the convening group for a new day dedicated to challenging the stigma that people who have, and who provide abortions so often face. The 28th of March is now 'The Global Day of Action to Destigmatize Abortions'. You can find out more on March28 website ([link removed]) , hosted by Inroads.

To mark the day we're sharing a new post about the joy of abortion care and accompaniment:

"Abortion is so often depicted as something traumatic, sad, unfortunate. But when we only speak about abortion in these desperate and negative terms, we lose the full reality of people’s experiences...

The ability to choose our reproductive destinies, and support others to do so, can be a source of great promise, freedom, and even joy."

SAAF grantee partners busting abortion stigma

It's great to see so many SAAF grantee partners working to break down negative perceptions of people who have abortions. So much of the work we support is about questioning social norms which isolate and harm people seeking abortions.

To celebrate March 28, WGNRR is sending "words of love, care and support, for everyone who has had abortions." ([link removed]) And it's great to see Bolivian grantee partner Manodiversa use one of our new illustrations to highlight the importance of abortion support which includes trans men and non-binary people ([link removed]) .
