This Maundy Thursday, as we journey through Holy Week, and look for hope in the Resurrection, I ask you to keep the people of Gaza, the West Bank and Israel in your prayers.
We continue to work with our partners: Catholic Relief Services, Sadaka Reut, Caritas Jerusalem, Hotline for Refugees and Migrants, Jerusalem Legal Aid Centre and our local Gazan partner who we cannot name for security reasons. They are clear that with your support, they can continue to provide practical help to families in Gaza right now. Thank you for all you do to make this work possible.
During this holy time, we are united in prayer with Pope Francis and all those who pray that peace may prevail in all hearts. Every person is a child of God, and we must do all we can to be alongside our brothers and sisters of all faiths living through violence, fear and destruction.
I invite you to add your name as a sign of your prayers, which we will share with our trusted partners who are responding to this terrible crisis. I know that they will appreciate your prayers and take comfort from them.
Thank you once again for all your support of CAFOD throughout Lent.
Wishing you and your families a very blessed Easter,
Elizabeth Funnell
CAFOD Country Programmes Representative Middle East
