# [#]John,
In March, we recognize the work and stories of women who have impacted our lives when we celebrate Women’s History Month. For me, it’s a reflection on my teachers and on my colleagues in public service and former war zones.
I think of my mom. When I was young, she was a single mom and would rise early to drive a school bus, teach all day, and bus kids home. In the summers, she was a farmworker. As an educator, she has impacted the lives of students in the Midwest, East Africa, and Oregon.
I think of Hatixhe. After fleeing war with her family, she helped resettle other refugees, then earned her law degree and now works to protect the rights of the most vulnerable. Her resilience and commitment to justice is inspiring.
While we reflect on those who inspire us and how far we have come, we also recognize the threats that we face and the work left to do. This work is made harder by the extremist attacks on our families and our fundamental rights.
We’ve got to fight back against right-wing extremists working to turn back the clock on our right to reproductive healthcare.
My Republican opponent is proud to be part of the right-wing movement to restrict the ability of women to choose when to start a family and make decisions about our own bodies.
She celebrated the disastrous Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe that eliminated the national right to abortion, and has been an enthusiastic vote for MAGA legislation to strip reproductive rights for women. When given the opportunity to protect our access to contraception and IVF, she hid behind a resolution that does nothing to protect our rights.
Extremist Republicans are trying to remove our rights by passing a national ban on abortion -- which would take away our rights here in Oregon. I’ve never stopped fighting for women’s rights.
This year, let’s celebrate Womens’ History Month by flipping Congress and electing pro-choice champions. I will fight back and work to codify Roe into law to provide nationwide access to abortion healthcare and fertility treatments. Please stand with us and my fight for reproductive rights and gender equality in Congress! [[link removed]]
Thank you for taking this stand with me,
Jamie
