DLGA

You and I both know politics has been a “boy’s club” since the start. To change that, the DLGA is investing in electing diverse candidates to Lt. Governor and higher office across the country — and it’s working! Now, more than half of America’s Democratic Lt. Governors are women.

Before the end of Women’s History Month, I’d like to introduce you to just some of the Democratic Lt. Governors who inspire me on a daily basis.

Juliana Stratton

Juliana Stratton is an attorney and leader on juvenile justice reform. Now, she’s also the first Black woman to serve as Illinois’ Lt. Governor. She’s well-known in her state for being a champion of reproductive rights, criminal justice reform, and early childhood education.

Stand with Stratton
Aruna Miller

When Aruna Miller was seven years old, her family moved to America from India. She’d go on to make history as the first Asian American lieutenant governor and the first immigrant to hold statewide office in Maryland. She uses her civil engineering degree to bring an expert eye to transportation and public works issues in her state.

Aruna Miller

A former epidemiology nurse with the CDC, Sara Rodriguez ran for office when she saw Republican leaders failing to address the COVID-19 pandemic. She stepped up when no one else would, and was one of only two candidates in the state to beat an incumbent!

The women of the DLGA are already making history, and we are just getting started! I’m proud we’re at the forefront of elevating women and expanding representation across the country, and I want you to be part of our work electing the most diverse slate of statewide elected officials in the country! Will you chip in $10 to support our work before Women’s History Month is over?
