Yet, it seems that old habits die hard for Ronna. Despite now saying that Biden won the election, she mostly spewed the same election denialism and misinformation as she did as RNC Chair.
I knew it was the same Ronna when I heard her tell Kristen Welker that the RNC is litigating 78 cases involving what she called “election integrity” — an Orwellian term for voter suppression. I have written frequently about the RNC’s increased voter suppression caseload, but this number seems inflated by all accounts. Based on Democracy Docket’s database of over 700 voting and election cases, the RNC is currently involved in 26 — the voting rights news platform even asked the RNC for its list to check the drastic difference in numbers but got no response.
It's hard to say why she would embellish something as trivial as the number of active cases her former committee is litigating, but my hunch is that it relates to Trump’s love of outlandish numerical claims — like how much he is worth, or how many people attend his rallies. I suppose she just got used to using numbers in public that satisfied him. After all, if she was willing to change her last name for the guy, what’s a little fudging of cases counts.
