First: We began this presidential election year with a bang! In January, folks like you sent strong grassroots energy and support, ensuring our team’s organizing, research and strategy were well-resourced.

And then: Even more and more grassroots supporters stepped up with dedication and generosity in February — that helped keep our team strong and ready to tackle any obstacle that came our way.

Now: We find ourselves approaching our first end-of-quarter deadline and unfortunately, we are falling short of our first big fundraising test of the year. At the current rate, we will not meet our target in the last four days of the quarter.

However: There is still hope! If we can come together again this month by having each of you pitch in a few dollars now, we can close the gap by Sunday’s deadline.

Here’s why your donation is so important. Our sister organization, the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), partnered with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) to file a lawsuit challenging S.B. 4, Texas’ legislation that sets up a completely unconstitutional state immigration enforcement program. 

NILC-IJF, along with advocates like you and our allies, will always fight for fair and honest representation within every level of government. With your support, we can make progress, defeat injustice, and hold lawmakers accountable.

Texas leadership is blatantly subverting the authority of the federal government and setting a dangerous precedent for other states to follow suit. Texas is not above the law, and neither is any other state. That’s why it’s crucial that we have the means to keep fighting in Texas and anywhere else.

Team, with the end of the quarter just days away, it’s looking like we will fall short of our fundraising target. But we know this team always comes through when it matters most and with your help, we can get back on track.
