Covid 19 Update: Get your knitting needles out for mums and babies!
Sign up to the Community Knit project
Dear Friend,
We hope you are continuing to keep well and taking care of yourself and each other in this difficult time.
You will already be aware of Community Connect, a project which supports women in unplanned pregnancy and new mothers with practical gifts and assistance. That project is just getting off the ground and one of the gifts that each new mum gets is a hand-knitted item for her baby.
With this in mind and given that most of us are housebound, it's as good a time as any to resurrect your knitting needles and wool and sign up to knit a baby item or items for families in need. You can commit to knit hats, bootees or a cardigan for new born babies. We will supply you with the patterns and the know how!
The onset of the virus is making already challenging circumstances even more difficult for some parents. Restrictions in place add to the stresses and strains for new mothers and the kind gesture of knitting ‘welcome clothes’ for their new baby will mean a lot to these new mums.
We are assembling a team of volunteers who are committed to dedicating some time to knit items for newborn babies.
Would you like to be part of it? All you have to do is sign up and you will be sent further instructions including patterns by email. And if you haven't knitted in years don't worry. There are many of us in the same position!
Thank you for your ongoing support and keep safe in the days and weeks ahead.
