Hi John,

I just walked off the stage at my re-election campaign kickoff in Brattleboro, and I’m left feeling energized by the crowd in my hometown. Brattleboro is where this journey started for me, and it’s this community that gives me the strength and hope that I take to Congress each time I step foot in the Capitol.

As you know, I announced this morning that I’m officially running for re-election to Congress. ( Click here to donate to my campaign, [[link removed]] or keep reading to learn why.)

I believe our leaders should be focused on alleviating suffering and fighting for people on the margins. I grew up knowing what it was like to be on the outside. I grew up knowing I was gay and that this wasn’t accepted in my community. And as a teacher, I wanted to ensure that no child felt disconnected or alone.

I took the big leap of running for Congress to serve regular people: Working families trying to support their kids, farmers working the land, and small businesses that hold our economy together. We need people in Congress who are doing the work and fighting for us. Not for donors, not for big corporations, but for us.

In my freshman term, I’ve been so proud to lift up the voices of regular people and represent Vermonters on some of the most pressing issues in our state. But there is still so much work to do, which is why I’m proudly running for re-election this year — and why taking back the House majority is incredibly urgent, John.

Republicans have no interest in actually governing our country. The Republican majority has struggled to perform tasks as basic as keeping the government open, and we can’t let them continue wasting valuable time and taxpayer dollars when there are so many issues confronting us today.

The stakes are far too high to stay on the sidelines this year, so I have to ask: Will you donate today to my re-election campaign? I’m counting on grassroots supporters like you to step up and pitch in. [[link removed]]

I couldn’t be more grateful for your support, John. With kindness and courage, we can do anything.
