Congressional Republicans just released a big budget proposal. I am wholly opposed to it. Here is why:

• On Social Security. Instead of having America's wealthiest pay their fair share in taxes, their big idea is to raise the retirement age for Social Security.

This is the big Republican idea? To milk even more out of our working-class families?

They seem intent on doing everything they can to stick it to everyday American workers, all to line the pockets of the billionaires who fund their campaigns.

• On Reproductive Freedom. First, let me make this very clear: I believe the right to reproductive health care should be protected. Full stop.

But look here at this budget proposal: Republicans are lining up to support a full ban on reproductive freedoms, birth control, and just about any reasonable access to a safe and legal abortion (and even to IVF).

MAGA extremists promised to do anything to overturn Roe v. Wade. They got that done after stacking the Supreme Court with extreme voices. Now they are trying to take the next step.

Republicans have shown that their plan is to repeal the ACA and gut the meaningful progress we have made in the last few decades on issues ranging from civil rights to environmental protections.

The bottom line is that this coming November election matters. A lot.
