John, one year ago today, a gunman entered an elementary school in Nashville, TN. He fired more than 150 rounds, brutally killing three faculty members and three 9-year-old students.

In a matter of minutes, this community was torn apart, leaving families with the most painful grief imaginable. A mass shooting like the one in Nashville has become every parent’s worst nightmare. Children are growing up terrified of assault weapons and gunmen. We commemorate dozens of mass shootings  every single year. Gun violence is ingrained in American society. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The majority of Americans support common-sense reforms, like banning assault weapons, that will make mass shootings a thing of the past. But for far too long, the gun lobby has been allowed to run things in Washington. Enough. We cannot let this cycle of violence continue.

We’re leading the fight to defeat the gun lobby and finally end mass shootings like the one in Nashville. But we can only win this fight with your help. Please, will you respond to our live survey before midnight tonight to demand that Congress ban assault weapons?
