The Supreme Court just heard a case on whether to restrict access to mifepristone — an FDA-approved medication that abortion patients have used for decades.

Before I continue, a few important things to make clear: Mifepristone was approved 20 years ago by the FDA. It has been used safely and effectively in all that time. Half of all abortions in this country are medication abortions.

So this case is not about the safety of the medication. It’s about extremist, partisan politics, plain and simple.

This will be the biggest abortion case to be decided by the Supreme Court since Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization — the case that overturned Roe v. Wade. As a former law professor, I have to say that if I were to grade the legal argument in the majority opinion in the Dobbs case, it would get an F.

Since then, states have tried to make it extremely difficult to access this medication — or have banned it altogether. Anti-abortion extremists’ next crusade is to ban mifepristone nationwide, and they’ve also got plans to ban birth control too. Yep, birth control.

The Supreme Court hearing this case just makes the already-obvious even more painfully obvious: Overturning Roe was never simply about “leaving abortion policy to the states.” Right-wing extremists and MAGA Republicans are attacking national abortion access at every angle, everywhere, with a national abortion ban on the top of their wish list.

I’m going to continue to pull every lever I can to protect abortion access in our country. If you’re able to, please donate $28 or anything you can to support our pro-abortion rights campaign so we can continue to fight back against extremists trying to take away our freedoms.

I am fed up with extremists trying to turn back the clock and deny women reproductive health care — and I am fed up with out-of-touch ideologues thinking they know the science better than scientists and experts in drug safety.

It’s infuriating that we’re in this position. It’s outrageous that a handful of unelected Supreme Court justices ripped a constitutional right away from over half our population, and extremists are pressing forward to restrict access even more.

I’m still angry, and I’m still determined to fight back. Right-wing extremists were able to overturn Roe because of years and years and years of planning — and we’ve got to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to undo the damage they’ve done.

We can end the filibuster, pass a national law protecting abortion rights across the country, and expand the Supreme Court to rebalance this hijacked institution and prevent more damage from being done.

We can pass my Judicial Ethics and Anti-Corruption Act to give Americans confidence that their judges are held to the highest ethical standards and are free from conflicts of interest.

We can continue mobilizing across the country and provide resources for critical local down-ballot races, ensuring that pro-democracy candidates are leading the charge to protect our rights and election integrity in the states.

That’s what I’m committed to. And I’m glad to be by your side in this fight.

I’m going to keep fighting my heart out in Congress to protect abortion access — but I can’t do it alone. We've got to keep pushing, and that's only possible with the support of grassroots supporters like you. So will you please pitch in $28 or anything you can to power this pro-abortion rights fight?

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
