John, it seems like every day we’re reading in the news about a new attack on healthcare, on worker rights and on our democracy.
It’s time we had a tough, frank conversation about reproductive rights and attacks on women’s health. That’s why we joined AFT President Randi Weingarten for this month’s episode of the “Union Talk” podcast. Click here to listen.
These hot topics are personal to both of us. As a registered nurse at Planned Parenthood and the president of the Boston Teachers Union, as workers fighting for real solutions for a better life, and as women living in America right now, we’re watching our rights erode before our eyes.
As educators, healthcare professionals and public employees, we are part of this fight for a better life for ourselves, our families, our students and our communities. Reproductive rights are an economic issue, a worker rights issue, a civil rights issue and a democracy issue. And in the face of assaults on our freedoms from lawmakers and courts, it’s up to us to stand up for these rights.

This episode is a timely conversation to help educate listeners about the impacts of these legislative attacks, to encourage people to speak out and share their own stories, and to mobilize activists to stand up and fight back. We hope that by delving into this tough discussion, we can challenge people’s views, build community and empathy, and protect the right to make our own healthcare decisions—not just for us, but for our children and generations to come.
