Thanks to the hard work of our grassroots team all across the state, Hal earned the most votes of any candidate in the March primary. On election night, he received 181,000 votes, besting the second place finisher by 34,000 votes. Hal's support came from across the entire state. He received the most votes in 62 counties and defeated the runner up in 80 counties. However, since no candidate received more the 30% of the overall vote, our state will be holding a runoff election on May 14th.
Hal is working hard to preserve his victory and win the Republican nomination outright and give Mark Robinson a running mate that will complement him and strengthen the Republican ticket.
During his primary campaign, Hal was the candidate of the conservative grassroots. He was the only Republican candidate to travel to all 100 counties, including going to 35 counties 5 times or more. Hal's candidacy is built around the people of the state and that will not change during the runoff or, if he is victorious in May, during the general election campaign either.
Make sure to mark your calendars and spread the word about the runoff election. The next election is on May 14th, but early voting will begin on April 25th. If you plan to vote early, please note that your county board of elections may reduce the overall number of early voting sites for the runoff. However, if you plan to vote on May 14th, all election day precincts will be open the same as during the first primary in March.
