John – Last week, I introduced the Destroy Zombie Guns Act, a bill that ensures gun disposal companies actually destroy entire guns, rather than a part or two.

It’s a commonsense solution to something that should never have even become a problem – but pro-gun groups are furiously attacking me over it. Just look what they’re saying on social media:

I know the full force of the gun lobby is about to follow suit, and they’ll want these attacks to cost me my seat. So we need to come together and prove that this movement will never back down. But the response needs to be immediate – 400 donations in the next 24 hours – to make their attacks fall short. Can you rush a donation ASAP? >>

Look, John – this response is completely disproportionate. It would be comical if it weren’t so dangerous.

But here’s what I know: When extremist, pro-gun groups are attacking you for common-sense legislation, you’re doing something right. Because they only push this hard when they think our movement is a threat to theirs.

The gun lobby and pro-gun extremists have been after me for years. In fact, their attacks ramped up when I made it to Congress – and they get more defensive every time someone like you joins me.

I know we can’t count on them to stop. They’re relentless, because they know their attacks will lead to donations for my opponents and everyone who wants me gone. But you can count on me.

I ran on the hope that we can have elected officials who will do what’s right. As long as I’m in Congress, I’ll always do that. I just need your help to stay here, and it has to come now – before the next extremist attack.
