This is Senator Bernie Sanders. I was proud to endorse Becca Balint for Vermont’s at-large congressional seat in 2022, and I’m proud to stand with Becca today as she officially launches her re-election campaign.
Becca made history in 2022 when she became the first woman and the first openly LGTBQ+ person ever elected to serve Vermont in Congress. In her freshman term in Congress, Becca has emerged as an unrelenting advocate for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, investing in affordable housing, protecting our democracy, and rebuilding America’s middle class.
As President of the Vermont Senate, Becca raised the minimum wage for workers, secured one of the largest investments in affordable housing in Vermont’s history, and led the passage of some of the strongest reproductive rights laws in the nation.
Becca’s political courage and fearless dedication to doing the right thing has already made her a target of right-wing vitriol and hate online. And with the November elections coming up in less than eight months, we need to come together as progressives and stand behind Becca.
