JOHN,
Filing to add your name as a candidate running for State Senate, or other Missouri offices in 2024, is now over. I am proud to be the Democratic nominee in Senate District 15, working to win voters’ support. As such, I will continue what we began several months ago, so that we can flip this important State Senate seat.
Please join the team as I continue to meet voters, raise money to get the word out, organize events and canvassing in the district and build support and friendships across the political spectrum.
If you have helped me get to this important place by donating, attending or hosting an event, calling friends and informing others of your support, thank you! Because of you, rather than being sidetracked by a Democratic primary, we will be able to focus on winning in November!
After all, here is some of what’s at stake:
- Missouri’s abortion ban is among the most stringent in the country. In addition to denying an abortion for victims of rape or incest, the poorly-defined exception for the life of the mother is unclear to doctors, putting women at grave risk of lasting health issues or even death.
-
The Republican supermajority in Jefferson City is undertaking an unprecedented assault on our democratic process that has served Missouri citizens well for over 100 years. Their priority proposal against the current citizen-led initiative petition process will make majority rule and “one person-one vote” a thing of the past, and that is unacceptable.
-
Sadly, Missouri’s race to the bottom includes having some of the weakest gun laws in the nation—and, consequently, we rank among the top states for the highest rate of gun deaths, whether by suicide, homicide or accidental. It is time for common sense laws that even our gun owners support!
And now, the opportunity:
Flipping the seat in Senate District 15 will help put a much-needed check on Missouri’s downward slide. With a change in a net total of two Senate seats, the supermajority, often fueled by extremists, will end, and legislators will need to work together across party lines to get positive things done to strengthen our economy and build a better and stronger Missouri for all.
As I talk with voters, it is clear that they are looking for someone who will listen, understand their concerns, and represent them well and with integrity.
Whether you are tired of extremists hijacking the agenda, or are working hard to unite us around common-sense ideas that elevate safety and restore our personal rights and freedoms, or just want to see competent, responsive and responsible governing again, you are the people with whom my values align. We can and will be a team.
My personal history, and who I am today, will show you there is an adult in the room. I will continue to reach out, build consensus, and do my best to govern in a way that benefits the people of Senate District 15 and our state as a whole. Count on me to work for you with integrity and determination, focused on listening, learning, and making the best decisions possible.
Together, we can win! While we, the people of Missouri, are extraordinary and resilient, we deserve to have a Senator who is committed to helping our state do better. Together, we can do better. Can I count on your support to help us run the strongest campaign possible so that we can flip this seat and bring sorely needed change to this great state?
