Howdy John, it’s Shad.
Something exciting is coming up: the one-year anniversary since I was elected Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party!
Seriously, where did that year go?!
When I was elected Chair, I came in with a clear vision for our party’s priorities:
1. To protect and expand our legislative majorities
2. End the era of Republican dominance in our local offices
3. Strengthen our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
4. Support candidates and county parties across our state while building a more accessible party
I’m glad to report we’ve made great progress on these priorities.
In November 2023, we won mayoral, city council, and school board races in communities all across Colorado, including in places where Democrats often don’t compete – simply because we chose to fight everywhere . During the caucuses and assemblies earlier this month, we were thrilled by the turnout of people, many participating for the first time, who were excited and ready to be a part of our democratic process.
You know, as well as I do, that we’ve still got a lot of work to get done.
Looking ahead to November 2024, we are laying down the groundwork we’ll need to protect our legislative majorities, send Yadira Caraveo back to Congress, oust Lauren Boebert from any Congressional District she tries to move to, and re-elect President Joe Biden and keep Donald Trump out of the White House.
