John,
I wanted to share some reflections on the events that have transpired in the three weeks since Steve Garvey and I advanced to November’s U.S. Senate general election.
What they mean for our campaign. And even more importantly, for the shared struggle for our democracy as a whole.
Because make no mistake:
When Donald Trump saluted the violent January 6 insurrectionists from the stage of his Ohio campaign rally…
When his campaign played their recording of the National Anthem sung in chorus over the jailhouse telephone to paint the traitors as martyrs…
When Trump called the rioters who beat Capitol and Metropolitan Police officers — some within an inch of their lives — “hostages” …
When he did all that and more, the plain truth of this election became even more apparent.
Trump and his far-right extremists are no longer trying to erase what happened on January 6th. Their goal is to glorify the seditious acts. And if they do not get their way in November, their goal very well might be to overthrow our democracy completely.
That’s why we need to fight back. So before I go any further (and trust me, there has been far more that’s transpired) — I’m humbly asking you to pitch in a contribution of any amount before my campaign’s FEC deadline on Sunday.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
The truth of Trump’s extremism is right in front of us, and now more than ever, we cannot falter in this final effort to consign him to the dustbin of history for good. We cannot let up. Not when we have been fighting for this long. Not when we are this close to vanquishing him for good.
Since our election, Trump has called immigrants “animals.”
He has said that Jewish people who vote for Democrats hate their religion.
And he has attacked me — repeatedly — because he believes I represent everything he despises — just as you do — people who still believe in small-d democratic ideals and the rights set forth in our Constitution. You know, the values he abhors.
The rest of the party he just completed taking over with the ousting of Ronna McDaniel at the RNC has the entire MAGA Republican Party playing from the same sheet of music.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee launched a digital advertising campaign calling me a “liar.”
Republican dark money donors incorporated a new super PAC called “Strike Out Schiff.”
And Trump has continued to attack me on social media.
These dangerous attacks will continue to escalate as we approach November, and if we fail to reach our FEC fundraising goal by this Sunday, Trump and his allies will pour even more gasoline on the fire. So before they do, will you contribute $3 or any amount before my deadline?
Thanks for taking the time to read this longer email. With the volume and intensity of GOP attacks, we can’t allow it to become white noise. Each and every one of Trump's allies' smears threatens to take hold among voters — and we must fight back with the truth.
Thank you,
Adam
