Dear John,

The two of us recognized the potential of DNA technology to reverse wrongful convictions through our work in the ‘80s on the case of Marion Coakley, who was wrongly convicted of rape and robbery in the Bronx.

After his case, and with our newfound knowledge and belief in the power of DNA to prove someone innocent of a crime, we launched the Innocence Project clinic at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1992. And over the past three decades, we’ve made progress in uncovering the criminal legal system’s flaws through the victories of more than 250 people.
It’s been an incredible journey, and none of it is possible without your support. That’s why, every year, the Innocence Project holds a gala to celebrate our exonerees and the incredible community who helps make this work possible — and this year, we want you, John, to be a part of it.

It’s going to be a fabulous night, and we want you to join us for the Innocence Project’s annual gala in New York City on May 15 — all you have to do is make a donation right now, and you’ll be automatically entered for your chance to win. [[link removed]]

John, it’s going to be a night filled with inspiration that you won’t want to miss. You’ll hear directly from the freed and exonerated people whose stories are at the very core of what we do, and see firsthand why this work is so crucial.

So please, make a donation today, and you'll be automatically entered to win a trip to New York City for a celebration of freedom and justice. [[link removed]]

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism.
