Friend, one year ago, a gunman walked into an elementary school in Nashville and fired more than 150 rounds. In mere minutes, he killed six people.
The three staff members and three 9-year-olds who died in Nashville were killed with an assault weapon — the same weapon that killed my daughter, Jaime, in Parkland.
It's been a year since Nashville, six years since Parkland, and more than a decade since Sandy Hook. Washington has the power to stop mass shootings like Nashville. But still, thanks to the NRA and their pocket politicians, Congress has refused to pass an assault weapons ban and finally end these horrific mass shootings once and for all. It's an utter disgrace — and we have to make sure that they know it. Please, will you join me in marking one year since the Nashville shooting with action by responding to our live poll before 11:59 p.m. tonight?

Should Congress ban assault weapons?
Days like today aren't easy for my family, families in Nashville, or for any of the thousands of Americans impacted by gun violence and mass shootings. But today, I have hope, too.
The Biden-Harris administration has already enacted the most transformative gun safety reforms in decades and created the first ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, specifically focused on eradicating this epidemic. Now, they're leading the charge to ban assault weapons, expand background checks, and pass other life-saving reforms.
But at every single turn, the gun lobby is working around the clock to undermine Gun Violence Prevention efforts and push their extremist agenda. And their bought-and-paid-for politicians in Congress are more than happy to do their bidding.
But, if we all raise our voices as one, we can defeat the gun lobby. The majority of Americans are on our side, so I'm personally asking you to raise your voice and join our fight. Please, will you submit your response before our midnight deadline? We've set a goal to have 20,000 people participate, and I'm counting on your help to hit it.
