John,

The Supreme Court just heard a case that could restrict abortion access nationwide by banning the drug mifepristone. And while our laws meant abortion was still safe, legal, and accessible in New York after the overturning of Roe, the case heard today would restrict reproductive freedom everywhere in America.

My message to the anti-choice extremists is clear: Don't underestimate the rage of women in this country.

I will always fight to ensure New York State remains a safe harbor for those in need of reproductive health care. That’s why we’ve stockpiled a five-year supply of medication abortion and invested millions in reproductive health care. Women are seeking freedom over their own body — and we're going to continue supporting them however we can.

Today, and every day, we refuse to go backward.

Ever Upward,

Gov. Kathy Hochul
