Hey there,
Today, the Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments for FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, which could restrict access to mifepristone, one of two drugs used in medication abortion. *Cue heavy breathing*.
Let’s start with what’s good – because yes, there’s some good in all of this sh*t! No matter what happens in this case, the Court is not reviewing whether or not to revoke mifepristone from the market entirely.
Buuuuut here’s what’s not so good. The Court’s forthcoming decision could impose restrictions on mifepristone. This would make it a lot harder for folks to access abortion medicine.
It’s clear that we need to replace some of the sick f*cks on the Court with justices who will protect our basic rights and freedoms. And one of the best ways we can do that is by keeping our Democratic majority in the Senate and electing even more progressives this November.
What’s the connection between SCOTUS and the Senate? So glad you asked. The more progressives in the Senate, the harder it is for right-wing extremist nominees to get confirmed.
The fight to keep the Senate in 2024 is on expert mode as we’ll be defending and expanding our majority with one of the hardest maps Democrats could face. In 2022, we defied the odds – and we can do it again, but it’s going to take a lot of work.
We're starting now by supporting razor thin races in 7 different states: Arizona, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Remember, 10 bucks today is wayyy more helpful to campaigns than 10 bucks in October 2024, when we're all riding the pollercoaster. So what do you say? Let’s save the Senate and slow roll the freaks and losers attacking our freedoms.
See you at a protest,
Team VSA
