- The far-right U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade has unleashed a flood of efforts across the nation to further restrict abortion access and other reproductive freedom.
- 21 states now have full or partial abortion bans – jeopardizing access for millions of Americans. [1]
- Following the Alabama Supreme Court’s decision ruling that fertilized embryos are “children,” Republicans in Congress rushed to proclaim their support of in vitro fertilization (IVF) then promptly blocked a bill in Congress that would have shielded the procedure used by millions of families. [2]
- Former President Trump has stated he would support a 15-week federal abortion ban if he gets reelected. [3]
- And today, the U.S. Supreme Court heard a challenge to an abortion drug, Mifepristone, that has been FDA approved and safely used by more than five million people for over 20 years. If anti-abortion activists are successful, it will be far more difficult for people to access safe and legal abortion care. [4]
We cannot afford to stand idly by while our rights are under threat. If Republicans have their way, countless individuals will be denied the reproductive healthcare they need and deserve.
