Social Security turns 89 this year. When it launched in 1935, we instantly lifted millions of seniors out of poverty and allowed people to live out their years in dignity and security.
But the world is changing. More people are approaching retirement with zero savings and most retirees today depend on Social Security for most or all of their income.
The very idea of cutting these benefits that we have paid into all our lives is obscene, and I won’t stand for it.
When I’m elected, I will fight to strengthen and expand Social Security by lifting the cap on what the super rich pay into this program and giving retirees greater financial security for as long as they need it.
Absolutely no one should be forced to work until they die. Help me flip this seat and I will fight tooth and nail to protect and expand our benefits.
