Demand Indiana University President Whitten Protect Jewish Students or Resign |
On Tuesday, March 26th, Indiana University Hillel planned to host Mosab Hassan Yousef to discuss the critical situation in Gaza. Shockingly, the Indiana University administration yielded to pressure from an antisemitic mob and forced IU to postpone the event. Despite security threats involving multiple Muslim and white supremacist extremist groups, it is the unequivocal duty of the IU administration to ensure the safety of all students, including Jewish students, in exercising their right to assemble peacefully.
The unilateral decision to postpone the event showcases IU's failure to safeguard Jewish students. By bowing to antisemitic intimidation, the Indiana University President and administration have demonstrated their inability to fulfill their primary obligation of student safety. We demand immediate action: reinstate the event with enhanced security measures or step down and make way for leaders who can unequivocally protect Jewish students. The time for action is now.
