Josh Hawley’s mission to end reproductive freedom in all 50 states

Shadowy groups spending billions. Back scratching. And an open conspiracy to ban abortion medication nationwide. It all hinges on a business arrangement that shouldn’t even be legal. Here’s how, thanks to Josh Hawley, they might get away with it. For now. 

First, meet the judge. A fellow named Matthew Kacsmaryk gets tapped to be a federal judge, but his confirmation stalls out and faces bipartisan opposition due to his obsession with using the courts to control people’s lives. 

We later learned he even tried to hide how bad his record really was. 

Tired of languishing as a nominee, Kacsmaryk decided to invest in his future. So, he donated to Josh Hawley, then a U.S. Senate candidate and a fellow member of a shadowy group of activist lawyers funded by billionaires and multinational corporations. 

Then came the payout. Months later, Hawley, now a U.S. Senator, provided one of the decisive votes to confirm Kacsmaryk to the court, despite bipartisan opposition. For Kacsmaryk, the payout makes him the newest federal judge for the Northern District of TX.

Now that the pieces were in place, more shadowy groups entered the scenes.

One of those shadowy groups was Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) — another cohort of corporate-funded activist lawyers with a long history of connections to Josh Hawley. He’s even taken their money. 

In 2022, ADF wanted to file a lawsuit to ban an abortion pill millions already use safely. But first, they went “judge shopping” — it’s a blatantly corrupt practice where lawyers try to game the court so they can land a judge who's friendly to their cause. 

“By filing the lawsuit in Amarillo, the cadre of anti-abortion groups seeking to cancel the FDA’s approval of the drug virtually guaranteed Kacsmaryk would hear their case. Critics have accused the plaintiffs of targeting Kacsmaryk to preside over the case because he was seen as more sympathetic to their arguments that the drug, which was approved in 2000, has major safety concerns.”

With everything neatly arranged, ADF found its preferred judge in the Northern District Court of Texas: Matthew Kacsmaryk.

And who did they pay to lead their lawsuit? None other than Josh Hawley’s wife. 

That’s the Josh Hawley family business.

Hawley’s corruption was so obvious, that federal courts recently put forward new rules on how judges are selected for cases.

Now, Hawley and his allies are trying to stop the efforts to restrict judge shopping.

You might think that’s pretty bold considering the heat he’s gotten. But Josh has already been so obvious about his efforts to corrupt our courts — why stop? 

Of course, Hawley’s donor judge decided in favor of the lawsuit led by Hawley’s wife.

His brazenly out-of-touch ruling "filled with activists' language" called for an immediate ban on mifepristone—the most commonly used abortion drug—in all 50 states. 

It’s the first time a federal judge has ever tried to take a drug off the market all by himself and over objections by almost everyone in medicine. That’s how far Hawley’s corruption was able to push this conspiracy to control people’s bodies. 

And it brings the conspiracy to the top of the legal system, where Josh Hawley’s wife will be fighting to get the Supreme Court to back this nationwide ban on the abortion pill. 

I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn which U.S. Senator used his taxpayer-funded office to submit (another) amicus brief in support of this case.

That’s right. Josh Hawley.

So if the Supreme Court blocks access to abortion medication, you have one man to thank: Josh Hawley and his corrupt family business.

Senators shouldn’t be in the business of using their position to benefit their family's legal careers and activism, especially if there is a financial incentive to do so. And there shouldn't even be a hint of campaign donations impacting who, when, and how a judge gets on a court.

In the U.S. Senate, I’ll vote to restore Roe. But I'll also fight for rules to end corruption like this in our courts. I’ll file legislation to outlaw judge shopping for good, and to bar senators from voting on judicial nominees who’ve given to their campaigns.
