Dear Friends,

This week we?ve seen several concerning bills and some insane statements coming from the DFL. In this week?s newsletter, we?ll touch on the Uber/Lyft situation, taxpayer-funded UBI for illegal immigrants, the DFL lying about detransitioners, and an election integrity bill that I introduced that would bring us back to the principle of one day, one person, one vote.

Additionally, I have been hearing from my constituents regarding the possible land transfer bills going on up north. I will be keeping an eye on these bills, but I don?t think that they?re going anywhere this year. I?ll be sure to keep you updated if they do end up moving before the last committee deadline.

*Uber/Lyft Situation*

An issue you should know about is the situation with Uber/Lyft. Due to the Minneapolis City Council and the DFL's reckless actions, these crucial ridesharing services will no longer operate in the metro area unless the Legislature takes action by May 1. Seniors, disabled citizens, and countless others who rely on these services will be left stranded because the Minneapolis City Council passed an ordinance that imposes unfeasible levels of driver compensation, overriding Mayor Frey's veto. This is a clear disregard for the needs of our community and a direct attack on our citizens' access to essential services.

*UBI for illegal immigrants *

In committee yesterday I pointed out that the $100 million universal basic income bill that we were hearing would allow illegal immigrants to receive a minimum of $500 per month from the taxpayers. The DFL had a bigger issue with the fact that I used the term ?illegal alien,? like DHS does, than the fact that we would be literally handing taxpayer money to illegal immigrants. *Detransitioner Testimony in Senate*

This week, a brave detransitioner testified in front of a Senate Committee to the fact that detransitioning is not covered under most, if any, healthcare plans. Senator Scott Dibble lied to and talked down to the testifier by saying that it was while being totally dismissive.

This interaction reminded me of a bill that I introduced five years ago to stop the genital mutilation of women and girls. I had the opportunity to appear on Fox News to talk about this at that time, but it?s just sad to see the same DFL actively push for sterilizing children and not allowing care for detransitioners to be covered.

*Election Integrity Bill*

Finally, I introduced a bill this week to bring some sanity back to our elections. The bill is HF 5095 [ [link removed] ], and it?s very simple. It ensures one day, one person, one vote. Specifically, it makes election day a holiday, bans absentee ballot drop boxes, and eliminates our early voting period which is the longest in the country.
