?I Am Not Invisible? Sheds Light on Women Veterans, March 4 - 29
I Am Not Invisible
?I Am Not Invisible? is an awareness campaign that features a poster series that celebrates Minnesota women Veterans who have served in every era of service and every branch of the armed forces. With more than 29,000 women Veterans in Minnesota, the exhibit shines a light on 33 of these phenomenal women whose service and sacrifices to defend America are often unrecognized when they return home, and their needs for support in transition go unmet.
This March, as part of the 2024 National Women?s History theme, ?Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,? Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is hosting half of the original posters to honor the service and sacrifices of women Veterans, and to show support that they are not invisible.

Preventing Veteran Suicide: Free Gun Locks Available
Sadly, an average of 100 Minnesota Veterans die by suicide each year. Two-thirds of these deaths are by guns.
To help prevent Veteran suicide, MDVA is partnering with the VA Healthcare System to distribute free gun locks. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs [ [link removed] ], a locked gun can mean the difference between a tragic outcome and a life saved for someone in crisis. Though Veterans are well-versed in firearm safety, all gun owners should understand that during emotional or stressful times, delaying access to a gun could mean the difference between life and death. Gun locks can prevent someone in crisis from tragically taking their own life.
In an effort to reduce these preventable tragedies, MDVA is offering free gun locks. To request a gun lock, please email
[email protected] with your name and address. This information will not be shared; requests are confidential.
