New East Midlands Combined County Authority launched

EMCCA launch event

We were joined by partner councils and key stakeholders to launch the first ever East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) this week.

The first formal board meeting of the new authority was held, with the four leaders and deputy leaders from Derbyshire, Derby, Nottinghamshire?and Nottingham councils. Key partners and stakeholders were then invited to help celebrate the launch of the new authority.

The Government has committed to giving the EMCCA access to up to ?4 billion in funding so far, some of it as core funding over the next 30 years, some of it to invest in specific initiatives, alongside devolved powers around transport, housing, skills and adult education, economic development and net zero.

The next step is for our residents to decide who they want to be Mayor in the upcoming elections on Thursday 2 May. You can find out more about the elections and the role of the Mayor at www.eastmidlandsdevolution.co.uk [ [link removed] ]

Last chance to have your say on the Economic Plan for Nottingham

Economic Plan

There?s just a few more days left for you to have your say on a plan to help boost Nottingham?s local economy over the next ten years.

The Council has worked with partners to create a draft Economic Plan, which will be delivered and overseen by the Nottingham Growth Board.

The idea is to have a shared vision to improve the economy of Nottingham, with a plan to help the city grow in a fair and sustainable way that benefits all.

The ambitions are to create 20,000 new jobs by 2030, to generate ?1bn of additional Gross Value Added by 2030 in the city, to secure the next ?4bn of regenerative investment and to develop infrastructure and services to serve the city.

The consultation closes on Monday (25 March). ?You can find out more about the Economic Plan and fill in the survey here. [ [link removed] ]

Electric vehicle charge points survey

Charging points

In collaboration with Midlands Connect and other local councils, we have successfully been awarded ?1.7 million of the Government?s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund.

This funding will help Nottingham City Council to install more electric vehicle (EV) charge points in neighbourhoods, closer to people?s homes to support residents with no off-street parking to charge their vehicles.

We?ve launched a survey for both current and future EV drivers to hear your views on where new electric vehicle charging points should be located and to understand how you currently use charging infrastructure.

Tell us your thoughts on bus lane plans

Crown Island

The council is asking for community feedback on proposals for improvements to bus lanes on the A609 Wollaton Road between Crown Island and St Peter?s Street.

Works include:

* New 24-hour bus lane inbound
* Existing outbound bus lane switched to 24-hour
* The new and upgraded bus lanes will help with bus times and reliability on the trentbarton two and the NCT pink 28, 30. Traffic modelling has shown that the bus lanes will not have a negative impact on the rest of the traffic flows, but that bus lanes will help to improve journey times for bus passengers.

Funding for this comes from the Government?s?Bus Service Improvement Plan [ [link removed] ]?? a pot of money designed to help upgrade public transport provision in the city. In addition, while working in this area, Nottingham City Council will also be doing some flood prevention works.
