Chlorpyrifos damages kids' brains, but the Trump administration's EPA decided to keep allowing its use. We need to step up our efforts in states across the country to ban chlorpyrifos. Donate today to support the campaign to ban chlorpyrifos, and all of our work. DONATE:

Anonymous,
The Trump administration's EPA recently announced that it will not ban chlorpyrifos, a pesticide linked to brain and developmental damage in children.[1]
That means chlorpyrifos will continue to be used on the food that we eat -- and that children will continue to be exposed to danger. Kids ingest up to 140 times the safety limit of chlorpyrifos in their lifetimes.[2] The exposure won't stop until we stop using this dangerous pesticide once and for all.
Even if the EPA won't ban it nationwide, we know we can make progress at the state level. California announced a ban on chlorpyrifos just a few months ago.[3]
With our national network of state affiliates, U.S. PIRG is built for the job of getting this harmful pesticide banned for good. Donate today to support all of our work.

The Trump EPA has refused to ban chlorpyrifos despite the fact that the agency's own data once described a link between chlorpyrifos and harm to children's brains.[4]
Indoor use of chlorpyrifos has been banned for decades due to the known risks.[5] A court even ordered the EPA to ban chlorpyrifos last year, but the EPA appealed that decision -- directly leading to the decision to keep chlorpyrifos in use today.[6,7]
The EPA's failure to ban this dangerous chemical compound puts kids' health at risk across the nation. We shouldn't have to worry about the invisible presence of a brain-damaging chemical on the food our families eat.

At U.S. PIRG, we're working at multiple levels to make sure chlorpyrifos is banned.
We're getting the word out to the public about the dangers of chlorpyrifos. Our national network is also advocating for more statewide bans on this dangerous pesticide, to build on California's success. Meanwhile, we're delivering petitions to our senators in support of the Protect Children, Farmers and Farmworkers from Nerve Agent Pesticides Act, which would ban the pesticide nationwide.
All of our work is made possible with your support. Together, we can keep our families safe from toxic chemicals. Donate today to support U.S. PIRG's vital campaigns in the public interest.
