West Virginia Constitution Party

Gubernatorial Candidate

March 26, 2024

Dear Supporters and Friends of the Constitution Party,

We wish to proudly introduce S. Marshall Wilson, who is seeking to be the next Constitution Party Governor of West Virginia.

BACKGROUND:

Marshall is a staunch advocate for the establishment of Constitutional governance to secure the Natural Rights of each individual citizen.  He is a retired combat veteran US Army Infantry Officer, a former Christian missionary in the Peruvian Amazon and a teacher at Liberty University.

He served in the West Virginia State Legislature House of Delegates for two terms, from 2016 to 2020, as a Republican.  When the establishment Chairman of the WV Republican Party demanded that he leave the Republican Party because, "all (he) did was run around spouting the Constitution", Marshall chose to run for Governor with the Independent Party of West Virginia rather than seek re-election as a Delegate in 2020.

DEMOGRAPHICS:

The majority of West Virginia sits in the middle of the Appalachian Mountain range, where the electorate tends to be conservative with much of the constituency comprising of hardworking, over-taxed people working in the coal mines, steel mills and non-union companies.  However, in the capital, Charleston, the two university cities, Huntington and Morgantown, and portions of the Eastern Panhandle nearest to D.C., a liberal mindset prevails.

Door-to-door petitioners are reporting that most of these signers are overjoyed and express positive interest to help Marshall get elected as their Governor on the Constitution Party ballot..

NEXT STEP:

However, to make his candidacy a reality, the Constitution Party of West Virginia must first be ballot qualified.

There are a number of conservative groups with whom Marshall has strong ties who will endorse his candidacy once he is confirmed to be on the general election ballot. In order to mount an effective campaign and gain credibility, the party needs to get those endorsements early, rather than later, which means West Virginia needs to achieve ballot access by May 1st.

Currently, over 3,146 signatures have been collected and validated by the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office. The Constitution Party needs 7,948 valid signatures of registered voters.  To allow for any signatures that might not be considered valid, a total of 10,000 signatures need to be collected and turned in.  That means we still have 6,154 more signatures to go.

THE PLAN:

With your help, Marshall can really win this race, but………….

This is where your financial and physical assistance are urgently needed.

If you are willing to assist in gathering signatures, or even signing the petition form (if you are a registered voter in West Virginia), please contact Barbara Thomas at 304-754-9294.

Secondly, we urgently request your financial support (no matter what state you live in) by making your most generous online donation without delay as May 1st is fast approaching.

STATUS REPORT:

In appreciation of your past support, I also want to keep you apprised of the progress being made in other states.

North Carolina has turned in 18,819 signatures of which 14,552 have been validated according to the NC Secretary of State. 1,000 additional signatures are still in hand yet to be turned in. A total of 13,872 valid signatures is required, but to avoid any challenges to those signatures, the party members intend to gather an additional 1,500 signatures to ensure they have 3,000 above the requirement. That feat has been accomplished almost entirely by local volunteers, which speaks well of the North Carolina Party membership. Kevin Hayes is the key person behind this effort.

New Hampshire is very new, but they are already moving forward to secure the 3,000 signatures required to gain ballot status.

New Jersey requires just 800 signatures, a goal which is entirely achievable.

Missouri and Washington are two other states where efforts to gain ballot status are ongoing. These states require 10,000 and 1,000 valid signatures, respectively.

IN CONCLUSION:

Your financial assistance is urgently needed to make this all happen. Please take a moment to write a check made payable to:
