I'm writing this morning to ask you to make a contribution — of $3 or any amount possible — to our people-powered campaign for Congress. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain why.
Here's the deal:
This Sunday night, our campaign is facing the first official FEC fundraising deadline of this election year.
We've emailed about these FEC deadlines before, and I'm sure we're not the only campaign reaching out to you about them. They're at the end of every quarter — just four times a year — and are incredibly important to our campaign's chances of success.
You see, shortly after the deadline ends on March 31, we're legally required by the Federal Election Commission to report our fundraising numbers. That means how much money we've raised, how many individual contributions make up that amount... it'll all be publicly available for everyone to see. Good or bad, big or small, we'll report it.
And the truth is that a LOT of people will be paying attention to the numbers we report.
Our allies, our right-wing opponents, the media — they're ALL going to be checking the receipts to see how we're doing, because those numbers are taken as a measure of how strong our grassroots support is, both in Minnesota's 5th district and across the country.
This FEC deadline — the second-to-last one before ballots are cast in this primary — is an opportunity to show everyone just how powerful our movement is. And since we're funding this campaign together, I'm counting on your support today.
So please. I'm asking:

As we've said, the super PACs and the billionaires who fund them are keeping a close eye on our campaign. They want to know if it's worth the time, money, and effort to pour millions of dark-money dollars into Minnesota and try to defeat us.
I want to make sure they don't like what they see, one grassroots contribution at a time.
