Giuliani whines that he's trapped in a "nightmare world"
Who could've possibly seen this unceremonious end coming? It's not like Rudy spent years peddling booze-soaked conspiracy theories on national TV, lying through his teeth on behalf of a serially indicted cult leader, and permanently sullying whatever goodwill he managed to muster more than two decades ago as a once-relevant city leader. Maybe a nightmare, but definitely not a dream, Rudy. It's all very real.

Supreme Court hears arguments Tuesday in case that could restrict access to abortion medication
The Supreme Court is hearing arguments Tuesday in its first abortion case since radical, right-wing justices overturned the constitutional right to abortion care two years ago, upending 50 years of established precedent. At stake today is the ease of access to mifepristone, a medication that was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the US last year. The practical consequences of a ruling in favor anti-abortion zealots would be dramatic, possibly halting the delivery of mifepristone through the mail and at large pharmacy chains, reducing the period in pregnancy when it can be used from 10 to seven weeks, and ending increasingly popular telehealth visits at which the drug can be prescribed.

Wife of Trump-appointed judge who ruled to restrict access to abortion care received multiple payments from VERY same anti-abortion group that brought case before the court
Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge James Ho, a Trump appointee, served on the three-judge panel last summer that ruled to restrict access to mifepristone. The legal group behind the mifepristone case, Alliance Defending Freedom, made at least SIX payments from 2018 through 2022 to Ho's wife, Allyson, a powerful federal appellate lawyer who has argued in front of the Supreme Court and has deep connections to the conservative legal movement that has led the unrelenting attack on abortion care in the United States. And under US law it's all perfectly legal, apparently. Truly unbelievable stuff.

Anti-"woke" billionaire idiot wants a seat on Disney's board because too many movies are providing audiences with a "message"
Nelson Peltz, the billionaire Republican activist who inherited his grandfather's burgeoning trucking business after dropping out of college, is trying to pressure his way into a seat on Disney’s board. In an incredibly ignorant and hilariously offensive interview with The Financial Times, Peltz assailed the company’s "woke" messaging and corporate strategy. "People go to watch a movie or a show to be entertained," he said, lambasting Disney's increasing emphasis on diverse content. "They don't go to get a message. Why do I have to have a Marvel that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can't I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?” he said, out loud, through the hole in his face connected to what we assume is a brain inside his head. Disney has been working feverishly to deny Peltz a board seat, because that kind of genius is clearly too hot to handle. Or maybe because crashing a multi-billion-dollar juggernaut isn't sound business strategy.
Trump's Truth Social network set to go public today, reaping disgraced ex-president a fortune — on paper
The company behind the serially indicted cult leader's social media app Truth Social will start trading on the Nasdaq exchange on Tuesday, potentially delivering a windfall of more than $3 billion to the disgraced ex-president, if share prices manage to continue trading at their current value. The news comes as Trump is mired in a slew of legal cases. On Monday, and because nothing apparently matters in the world of white collar crime, a New York appeals court inconceivably reduced the amount Trump must post as bond in his civil fraud case to $175 million from nearly half a BILLION dollars — and gave him him another 10 days to post it. Speaking of things that make absolutely no sense, in its most recent financial files Truth Social reported revenue of just over $3 million in the first nine months of last year and lost nearly $50 million during that period. So, yeah, that $45 share price makes perfect sense.
Boeing chief executive Dave Calhoun to leave as firm faces safety crisis
It's been a turbulent ride for the troubled aircraft manufacturing giant's CEO, Dave Calhoun, and the company's beleaguered flagship jet, the 737 Max. Calhoun took over the industry behemoth in 2020, shortly after two fatal accidents claimed the lives of 346 passengers and crew, grounding the entire 737 Max fleet for more than a year. Calhoun was charged with restoring trust and integrity and strengthening the firm's "safety culture." The past four years have been, well, more than a little bumpy. In January, an unused door literally blew off an Alaskan Airlines plane shortly after take off nearly triggering another mass casualty event, and just a few weeks ago, a whistleblower — who spent 30 years working for the company — was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound days after providing damning evidence exposing a long record of troubling production safety violations, disturbing cost-cutting measures, and general corporate malfeasance that simply cannot be overlooked. And so, like a cramped, exhausting, long-haul flight, Calhoun's journey is finally set to come to an end. He will depart the company later this year — undoubtedly with an obscene severance package and a slew of unanswered questions for the next CEO to grapple with.
Republicans threaten contempt vote against Merrick Garland over Robert Hur material
House Republican clowns reeling from their flailing Biden impeachment escapade are now threatening to hold US Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress if he doesn't hand over additional material from the Justice Department’s recent investigation of the president, conducted by special counsel and Trump-appointee Robert Hur. The Justice Department already handed over transcripts of Hur's interviews with Biden shortly before he testified before the House, but Republicans are now insisting they also get audio of the interview, plus audio and transcripts of Hur’s interviews with Mark Zwonitzer, the ghostwriter of Biden’s 2017 memoir. The GOP goon squad's fishing expeditions won't end until they lose the speaker's gavel, folks. Remember in November.

Louisiana coroner accused of child abuse cuts sexual assault exam program
Having been elected with no opposition despite prior charges of child molestation, the chief medical examiner of a southeast Louisiana community with more than 270,000 residents took office on Monday, poised to deliver on a pledge to ELIMINATE an agency program that has helped collect key evidence in cases of sexual assault. Dr. Christopher Tape, 53, is expected to ultimately face an effort from voters to subject him to a recall election and force him from office, but that effort must clear a relatively high procedural threshold now that he’s in office. Tape was indicted in New Mexico in 2002 on charges that he sexually assaulted his then girlfriend’s daughter, who was seven at the time, as local TV station WWL Louisiana first reported in February. A New Mexico court later found prosecutors took too long between arresting and indicting Tape — who was a medical school student at the time — and tossed the charges, saying his constitutional right to a speedy trial had been unduly compromised.
