People of Faith are under attack by the DFL, they cannot really hide it anymore.
There has long been a faith-based exemption to our discrimination laws when it comes to sexual orientation as long it is not pertaining to a normal secular business activity. With the new efforts to enshrine the entire string of people covered under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella (in this case specifically as it pertains to opinions on gender), they are also attempting to remove that faith based exemption.
At first conservatives assumed it was an oversight, not even the DFL would be that bold, would they?
Well, this year it was confirmed that it was indeed intentional, and it was a direct attack on those houses of faith. What possible reason would someone who identifies as LGBTQIA+ have for even applying for a job such as teaching in a private religious school unless it is to undermine that organization? The hiring of that individual is directly contrary to the mission/beliefs of that organization.
Efforts were made to add an amendment to the proposed law change to ensure that the faith based exception would still pertain to gender in the Senate, but it was to no avail. The hearing in the DFL controlled committee pertaining to the amendment was held at 1 AM, yes, that is not a misprint, 1 in the morning, most likely to limit coverage and discourage people from testifying.
The Committee voted 5-3 with all democrats present voting against the amendment. The government has no business in our religious lives and the U.S. Constitution forbids them from telling us what we can believe. We must fight these efforts of the government to impose itself in our spiritual lives. A religious organization has a right to teach their faith and set the example of their faith without the government demanding they put someone who contradicts the teachings of their faith in a position that undermines their message and religion.
Just being against this infringement is not enough, we need to educate people on what is going on so they understand, we need to make enough noise about these attacks on our constitution that it shines a light on these abuses. That is why you should elect me; I will do just that.
