Tuesday's News Round-up Some medical experts predict a vaccine for the novel coronavirus is at least 18 month away. The captain of a U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier, docked in Guam with more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus, is asking Navy officials for resources to isolate his entire crew. Infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci told CNN, “We're starting to see glimmers that (social distancing) is actually having some dampening effect” on the virus’ spread. He urged people to continue avoiding contact with others as much as possible. The United States has recorded more coronavirus deaths (exceeding 3,400) than China. At a time when Americans arguably need and want reliable news, many newspapers and other outlets are suffering steep revenue losses, laying off staff, and cutting back on publications. | |
