Friend, right now, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a case that could ban the abortion pill mifepristone – a medication that has been used safely for over 20 years in abortion and miscarriage care. We're at the court rallying for reproductive freedom – and we've brought the signatures of over 180,000 ACLU members who signed our petition to protect medication abortion and know that the arguments against it are based in junk science and lies. But banning mifepristone isn't the end goal of the extreme movement we're up against – nor was overturning Roe v. Wade. They want to ban all abortion outright along with other reproductive health care, from IVF to birth control, in all 50 states.
Since Roe was overturned, the attacks on our reproductive rights have only gotten worse. A recent court decision in Alabama created a chilling effect that shut down IVF clinics for a time, severely disrupting care. Medication abortion and emergency abortion care are both at risk at the Supreme Court. And across the country, bans and restrictions on abortion are more aggressive than ever. We won't let this extreme, anti-rights movement win. We have a right to make the best health care decisions for ourselves and our families. We need federal protections now more than ever to put an end to these attacks and protect our right to control our own bodies once and for all. In this fight for our rights, we're glad to have you with us. – The ACLU Team |
