Israel Cancels Washington Visit After US Allows UN Gaza Ceasefire Resolution to PassLast Sunday, US Vice President Kamala Harris issued a stark warning against Israel's potential invasion of Rafah claiming it a “huge mistake”, noting she’s “studied the maps”. This is on the heels of US President Biden's endorsement of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's call for special elections in Israel in the week prior, interfering in the democratic process of another sovereign nation. Now, Monday’s UN Security Council Resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza has raised serious concerns, particularly regarding the United States' abstention from the vote. By refusing to veto and allowing this resolution to pass, the US has effectively betrayed its ally Israel. While the resolution may appear to advocate for peace, its passage without addressing the release of hostages undermines Israel's security and emboldens terrorist organizations like Hamas. The US has caved to international pressure and compromised its principles, abandoning Israel when it needed support the most. A pattern is emerging, demonstrating the Biden Administration is quickly turning its back on Israel to appease the Pro-Hamas voting bloc in the 2024 election. Read ‘Schumer Turning Against Israel.’ This move prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel a scheduled visit to the US by two of his top advisers, signaling a rift in the traditionally strong US-Israel relationship. The original UN resolution included a conditional ceasefire based on the Hamas release of all remaining hostages, which Russia and China vetoed, outrageously claiming the ceasefire should be without conditions. The passed resolution, introduced by the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council, demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, along with the unconditional release of hostages and increased aid flow into Gaza. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has stated that failure to implement the resolution would be "unforgivable." Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority welcomed the resolution, while Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz declared that Israel would not abide by the resolution and vowed to continue its operations until all hostages were released. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz emphasized the crucial inclusion of the release of Israeli hostages in any humanitarian ceasefire agreement with reports emerging regarding a potential hostage deal. Israel is reportedly agreeing to release between 700 and 800 Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement. These prisoners include hundreds serving life sentences for their involvement in terror attacks against Israelis. In exchange, Hamas is expected to release 40 hostages (20:1), however, Hamas stated that additional issues, including a complete ceasefire and the return of displaced individuals, remain unresolved. Israeli officials have underscored their willingness to make significant concessions, even at the expense of justice. The potential exchange of Palestinian prisoners, including convicted murderers, for Israeli hostages reflects the immense pressure and urgency felt by Israelis to bring their loved ones home and bring an end to the conflict. Despite the inherent risks and moral dilemmas associated with such exchanges, the priority remains the safe return of Israeli hostages and the restoration of peace in the region. As the Biden Administration and once reliable supporters of Israel like Chuck Schumer falter, it becomes imperative for us to reaffirm our enduring loyalty and hold our government accountable for their cowardice and betrayal our greatest ally in the Middle East. Together, let us continue our shared commitment to combatting terrorism and upholding the principles of freedom, peace, and security. Click HERE to Defend National Security!
