PublicSource reviewed the payrolls of Mayor Ed Gainey’s administration for 2023. Our top findings include:
  • Pittsburgh has diversified its employee pool overall since Gainey took office, but not in the well-paying public safety bureaus.
  • Even though the police force has shrunk since 2021, the city is paying more for policing than ever. 
  • A paramedic is the only city public servant to gross more than $300,000 last year — double that of Gainey.
